Dr. Ryan grew up in southwest Florida. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Florida in 1992, where she was inducted into the academic honor society of Phi Beta Kappa as well as the honor societies of Psi Chi (the National Honor Society in Psychology), Golden Key, and Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Ryan earned a Master of Science degree and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 1998. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of South Florida, and her post-doctoral residency in a forensic psychology practice in Miami. She spent three years practicing in Palm Beach County before moving to the Sarasota area. From 2003 to 2010 she was employed as a licensed psychologist with Comprehensive MedPsych Systems. In October, 2003 she opened her own private practice in Sarasota, Forensic Psychology Services. Dr. Ryan is a member of both the American Psychological Association and the Florida Psychological Association.
Dr. Ryan has extensive clinical and forensic experience. Over the course of her graduate school work and since obtaining licensure, she has worked in various settings with a clinical and/or psycho-legal background, including a court psychology program, community mental health, jails, hospitals, and a private psychology group practice. With 13 years of experience as a licensed psychologist, she has conducted over 2000 evaluations and has testified over 200 times in Florida courts’ criminal, family, probate, and juvenile divisions.
